Finding My Yellow Ball

JS: I was at a low point, feeling miserable and dejected. Happiness seemed out of my reach. I was focusing intensely on the negative side of, well, all things really. Oh, and I was unemployed at the time. My boyfriend explained life to me using a sand castle as a metaphor. "All the material things you are striving for are like grains of sand. They slip through your fingers when you try to grasp them," he said. What I needed to do is dig through all this distraction to find my yellow ball, my true self, my center of happiness. I was deeply struck by this analogy. I wanted to share it with others. I thought about starting a blog. Life got in the way. I got a job, two in fact. Five months later I was at another low point. I realized I needed to take action. Having a pretty little metaphor in my head is forgettable and doesn't lead to change. I began this blog, honestly, primarily as a way to hold myself accountable to the self-improvement I envision. The second reason is to help and learn from others. Please send me your thoughts, encouragement, advise and/or general musings.
